Reflection of Love

I throw my mind against a mirror,
Reflect my thoughts right back,
A spectre on the surface shimmers
And your image fills the glass,

You smile at me
Tenderly,
And I'm immersed in memories;
A reverie;
Trembling, my fingers trace
What I can see,
And I wonder of what could've been;
What cannot be.

As your shade wanes I shed a tear
And lean towards your fading ear,
Uttering words I'm unsure you will hear,
"I shall love you forever, my dear."
It appears I have an undiminishing backlog of things I need to clear.

Yes, it's my umpteenth love-themed poem in a row; yes, it's about the same person; yes, I know they probably don't know/care, but I need to get it out of my system, and this is the only way to do it if we don't count inducing memory loss through repeated blows to the head.
